Making a Youtube Channel that's a BR Challenge on Bovada
As I'm sure you gathered from the title I am creating a YouTube Channel that is going to be a BR Challenge on Bovada where I am going to try to grind a BR from $2,500 to $30,000 by the en of this year. I am goin to be starting at 200NL bc I actually have 6k in my BR if I did just so happen to bust that $2,500. I know it is an aggressive start to this project but I feel confident in my approach and if things go bad and I do go bust the first shot I will drop down to 100NL and try it from there.
Basically the reasoning behind this is to keep me in check and remind myself that I am not a full time professional and making an extra 25k in a year would be amazing. I don't need 100k a year to live or anything.(Even though 100k extra would be amazing) That isn't priority right now. I just want to continue to learn and grow as a player. I think doing thee videos and almost feeling like I am playing on someone else's money I hope will help me to keep from spewing and tilting to much bc I feel an obligation to myself and the Channel to accomplish what I set out to do.
I wouldn't mind getting up some kind of a prop bet if anyone would be interested. I would take action if someone doesn't think I can do it. I'm not talking anything crazy bet but if someone wanted to be 5k or lower I'd be game. Basically I would have to profit a minimum of $27,500 by January 1st 2015 in order to win the bet. I can play any stakes I want but would understand if someone wanted like a hand limit in place. I couldn't promise more than 15k hands per month but would promise I would play a minimum of 10k hands per month. Anyway, it was just a thought. I'm sure I won't get any serious takers but it would be cool if I did even if it was only for a few hundred bucks. Just the action I think would help me grind out some steady wins and just keep trying to move my BR forward.
Well wish me luck and here is a link to the YouTube Channel. I haven't even don anything to it besides start the page. I haven't put any art on it or whatever. It has a description of what my guidelines I am trying to follow are and a link to this amazing training site that I owe a ton of my success in poker too. Remember I am just starting the page so I expect to have it going full blast within 2 weeks and posting around 5 videos per week. Each video lasting about 1 hour.

Cool, I subscribed on Youtube. Good luck
Hey Wade,
I might be interested in putting some money down, just to spice things up. I'd want to watch a video or two before though, just to get a feel. We'd also have to agree to the terms.
I'll check up on this thread once you have a video up.
Sounds good man. When I get going we can talk some terms...
I am serious about trying to get up some type of a prop bet against me being able to achieve this goal of making around 30k by the end of the year at any stake I feel I want to play. It could make for some EPIC videos if it got down to the end and I had to play some 1kNL to be able to hit my mark. Or I may crush it and not have to worry about it really. I just think it would spice things up and also help keep me focused on my end goal of 30k. All in all I think it would be a good thing for both parties involved.
I will post here once I get the channel up and running so you can watch a couple of the videos before we talk details.
Let me know who's going to escrow.
The escrow will be a weird situation unless we can get RIO or something we all know and trust.
Wade making a run at future RIO instructor??
LoL, I think I would be the laughing stock of RIO...
I do love the game though and think this will be a good way for people to learn from a beginner and go through this journey with me. The extra motivation should help me focus Im assuming as well.
Wow that's pretty impressive you got a 6k roll when I read you busto'd couple times. Good luck in your goals and looking forward to some videos. General curiosity question... Bovado is not allowed in Canada but Bodog is... if I sign up is it the same network player pool?
I'll be starting a journal/challenge soon after not played online for about 6yrs (played live 3 yrs back).
It's all the same player pool.
Yep I went busto about 2 months ago but ended up being a fish on a heater and now have 6k..
Any suggestions for what my first video should be? I was thinking about just basically making an intro to what I plan on doing and a little bit about who I am. This will give people a little bit of insight into what they should look forward to and also so they can give their advice on what I need to do less or more of in the future. Then my 2nd video will be my first actual play video. I will be going over my setup and my general feeling on the best way to approach anonymous sites like Bovada. Any other ideas?
Also after doing the math this is a little bit of a lofty goal I have in front of me. I think a more realistic goal is probably $2,500 to $25,000 by the end of the year. That last 5k could make the difference in the end. Im not sure yet though. I wish I could play a month to get a better idea of where I stand and then make the bet!!! :P
6mths, 20k profit. So about $3333 / mth or about $166 per day (playing 5days per week). Doable for sure. Good idea about the intro video but keep it short.
Glad to see another dad here trying to make it in the crazy game of poker (I work fulltime as well).
Its most certainly not easy...
When is this starting, Wade?
Im doing my intro video today but probably won't post my first video for a week or so. Mt first play video will be in about 10 days. I have also changed the challenge from $2500 to $30k, now it is $500 to $30k by next WSOP!!! I think this is something people can relate to more and it will be something people can relate to a little better than starting with $2500. Im starting at 25NL I think but I havent decided that part yet either. The new site is just my normal Youtube channel. Here is the new page.

Im very excited to start this challenge as I think it will benefit me a ton over the next year...
That's way too long :( I vote for the original.
I know but Its also better for me as well. I paid off a shit ton of bills from m divorce with about 2/3 of my BR so Im eager to take this on. And who knows how things can go. I could do better than 5bb/100 like i factored into my equation... It is micros and super easy site.
And just so RIO knows. I did put a link on my YouTube channel for RIO and stated it's the best training site out there IMO.
Just posted my 1st video on my youtube channel. Its an Intro to the challenge. RIO gets a BIG mention as well
What happened to starting at $25NL? Do you think promoting RIO to all the fishies is a good idea? "Less is more, there's plenty of us."
I decided BC my BR was around 2k that I could start at 50NL and go from there. After the initial start I will be keeping a min of 20BI. The people who are going to be watching my videos are poker players already I assume!e. That would mean that they probably already know about it and if they don't know what RIO is but they are watching my YouTube channel, I'd say were pretty safe BC they can't be that smart.
Put my intro video up last night and plan on posting my first playing video in a few days or within the week.
Then that isn't really $500-$30K by next WSOP is it? If your bankroll is $2K then $50NL is obv fine and plenty of buy ins. If you're actually starting w/ 40 buy ins why would you drop to 20 as you move up? If anything it should stay the same or increase as you go up. The lower you are the less buy ins you need because players are awful, but the higher you go the better they are and the more buy ins you need because the swings will be bigger. You've shown over the few months of posting that you are prone to tilt, so don't set yourself up for failure. Slow and steady wins the race.
I also am very loyal and feel with what RIO has done for me its the least I could do to give RIO a mention.
Well basically the plan is to have the min of 30 BI. Only taking shots when I have the 30BI min for that level.i appreciate the help. It's been great
And for the slow and steady wins the race part. I'm making my youtube channel moto, " Time and Patience are called for. Many surprises await you."
The goal is to show that if you have a good mental game, strong discipline as far as your bankroll management, and then just some basic fundamentals and you have a great chance to be successful.
Really just trying to emphasize the fact of being patient and playing good discipline poker. This is where is comes into play the most. We will be grinding away till we get 30BI and that's when we will take a 5 BI shot at our next limit. If we lose we MUST show great discipline and move back down to your normal limit and grind it back up till you can take a shot again. This takes a ton of discipline and understanding of variance. Hope this explains where I'm at on this. Have a good one guys.
Shooting my first live play video the next few days. I'll post on here when I put it up on my YouTube channel. I can't wait to see how crappy you all say I am and junk. It will be classic.
Hey Wade,
I don't think I will be willing to put money down if this challenge is a year long. 2k to 30k is a little too easy to achieve in a year in my opinion.
I wish you the best though, I'll be watching from time to time.
I'm starting at 500 not 2k. But I do understand you thinking that's to easy but if you do the math I'd have to play 20k hands per month and win at 5bb/100 to make it to the 30k mark. It's not as easy as one would think. Do the math based off starting at 50NL and needing 30Bi to move up to the next limit. Not as easy as one would think.
No big deal though. Just excited to be making the videos.
So is it $500 or $2K? I'm so confused lol. First you said $2K, but then $500, but your video says $500 (but we have $2K BR) then you say $500 again....
Wade - Just saw your first video! I'm really pumped about this challenge and wishing you the best of luck! But don't recommend the people to Run It Once! All the fish are gonna get better! :D
-Mush
Thanks Mush. It's going to be a ton of fun making these videos from what I can tell. I am hoping it will improve my game exponentially over if I just studied on my own. It would just seem that by making these brm and study videos one would get a better handle on their own game and the things they are learning bc they are really putting all their focus on explaining and deciphering what our villains are saying.
And for the starting br. I am only going to have 500 to start out this challenge but what I was saying was I have 2k put back for just in case things go really bad in the beginning. I will be keeping 30BI from the 2nd limit on as well so I will have a good 5 BI shot I can take at the next limit and not stress bc if I lose 5 BI I can always move back down and still have 20BI.
Hey wade, are u using a bovada hud for this? and any plans on playing the new july series mtt's? gl. im a fellow bovada grinder as well
I will be using a HUD through Holdem Indicator for the challenge. I also probably will play a few of the tourneya in the series but I'm more of a cash fame player tbh.
I'm actually trying to decide if I'm going to come out to Vegas next week for a few days. I know I'd have a blast but hate dropping so much for a vacation. Who knows though. I may win 10k!!!
OK sounds goood man, good luck. I'll be following on Youtube.
Headed to Vegas on Monday for about 5 days. Looking forward to meeting some of you guys at the RIO lounge. Good Luck and hopefully we all run good.
Got so excited about getting out of this town for a week I decided to fly out tonight. Ill be in Vegas in the morning. Can't wait.
Sadly that means the BR challenge will be put on hold for about a week or so due to the obvious reasons. Well good luck to everyone and we will see you when we get back!!!
GO TEAM RIO!!!
