Just a thought for Run it Once coaches and owners

To whom it may concern,

I have long commutes and would benefit greatly from lectures in podcast format, I know it's not for everyone and therefore there is little motivation to do them but maybe if enough showed interest it may be something to look at... I can play the videos but it's not always safe to try and see what cards are being talked about ... anyways just a thought (and if you do it then PLO and mindset/intangibles first please haha ...

Thanks for your time
Benny

Hey benny1616 thanks for sharing your ideas regarding potential 'podcast approved' coaching videos. Indeed, this thought was raised by a few members in the past.

We already discussed the possibility to add a new filter option with something along the lines of 'Podcast approved' to allow our members to filter through videos that while reviewing have shown high suitedness to be consumed without any visuals. I myself have often 'studied' on the road although I can only recommend you to turn the phone completely out of reach and face down in order to not be tempted to look at the screen to check cards when a certain situation comes up. Doesn't sound +EV to me :) but often hard to resist in the moment.

In my experience, generally most of the 'Theory' videos on the site are always candidates which can largely be consumed without visuals. Doubtlessly, the visuals are crafted to support the learning experience but I'm quite sure that you can still get 70%+ of the learning effect from these videos with audio only. Obviously this should already hold true for your wish of 'Mental Game' videos. If you check out Chris Pimmer's or Leszek's videos I doubt that you can't follow without the slides.

And even some other video formats can be promising. I've found that when you accept that you can't follow 100% of the action when 'podcasting' a video there is still lots of value to be gained. It even can strengthen your memorization and range visualization when only hearing the coach talk about a situation without the visuals. You'll also notice that some coaches by nature have a coaching style which is better suited for podcasting -> some always tend to state the hand before giving the strategy naturally which makes these coaches a perfect fit for only listening. I've found that even Hand History videos and often also in Solver videos can then easily be consumed audio-only. Other coaches are less suited for this type of consumption.

I see that especially for PLO with 4 cards this is less likely to hold true but for all NLHE/MTT players out there it's quite likely you'll find a podcast-suited coach.

However, I think it's still reasonable that if the community shows enough interest in this we might even consider adding some content specifically catered for this, just as you suggested. I'd say it's rather unlikely at this point in time but we've always tried to find solutions when there is a clear desire in the community for something that we can serve.

I agree with you, benny1616, I think it'd be a nice touch. And Eldora makes some very helpful points, especially regarding using theory videos and Chris Pimmer videos. Not all theory videos are suitable for "audio only," but here is something to consider: If you don't mind viewing a video that you have already listened to while commuting, then listening to any and all videos on your commutes will be immensely beneficial. Just stay safe! =)

Great Idea!
The mental game video's already work great this way , I think its great if the producers try and create more content with this podcast format specifically in mind
