Jamming on the river issue
When playing online what do you think is the best amount of time to get
the villain to put you on a bluff when jamming on the river? Snap jam?
Waiting 10-20 seconds? Going into the time bank?

Hmmm...Interesting thread. Timing tells online have interested me since day one. What stakes are we talking about here? From my rather limited experience in the micros and small stakes - Snap shove or wait like 2-3 seconds. Almost immediately. The bigger the fish, the better that's going to work. This is how they bluff the river so when they see you do it, they tend to call because let's face it, fish are dying to call.
I'm definitely interested in seeing the thoughts of others on this, especially those at the mid+ stakes.
^ Speaking about midstakes. Against fish it seems pretty evident that a
snap-jam is going to work a large percentage of the time. I just wonder
what will be effective against regs or reggish textbook players.
I also wonder if hollywooding will work a large percetage of the time as a good bluff when you're painted against the wall on the river as well / against which types of players is this going to be useful.
Have you heard of / do you use 'timemojo' btw?
It's better to just have the same timing every time, so nobody can read into it.
If you give off fake tells, players will eventually catch on and eploit you.
10-15 seconds seems fine. Just think about what you'd do with certain hands you wouldn't be sure about, then jam.
Yep; this is also contingent on the story you've told the whole way through as well though
I agree with Chael when he says you should try to always use the same timing, but it's still interesting to explore the subject.
I think snap jamming polarises your range, but weighs it more towards bluffs, making it the best option if you want somebody to call your bet.
The general assumption when somebody snap jams is that he didn't think about the decision at hand, so he was either careless/on tilt/spewing or he knew his only option was to shove (either for value or as a bluff) so he didn't think about his decision very long.
It's the same logic as when a player snap calls on multiple streets: He's probably thinking he's always getting bluffed off his hands and he wants to get to showdown no matter what, so he'll call all your bets very quickly, which means you should go to value town.
The most reliable timing tell that I have found is when you have a short stack (5-15 BBs post-flop) OOP and you want to bluff somebody.
I found that pausing for about 7-10 seconds before checking makes you're opponent think that you have a made hand and you're hesitating between betting it yourself or check-raising. He will often check behind and then you can easily take the pot with a small turn bet. If he does bet, it's usually a small bet and you can check-raise to take the pot down a very high % of the time.
I know it's not exactly what you were looking for but I thought I would still share.
Hope it helps!
