Imagine...if we all didn't bullshit ourselves.
If we all did half as much as we said we did, a quarter of
what we set out to do and a tenth of what we dream of doing; we would all be
way further in our poker development.
This is my “accountability” blog/thread. I think for all of
us to some extent the above is true. Instead of saying “yeah one day this week
I will do some propokertools stuff and find out the equities of those hands I
have tagged…” or planning to study 2 hours a day, but only doing half an hour most
of the time and an hour or so sporadically or putting off learning the combinatory
mathematics that you always intended to do, I plan to actually DO as much as I
can. Not just tell myself I will, and I will document it here. The above is
true not only with regards to more general aspects of my game, but within the
play of my hands.
I think we all play verbal poker or “forum poker”
excellently, but how much do we genuinely implement these thought processes
while staring at 3+ tables? My posts and replies are often very long and I will
be the first to admit that often in game, in the heat of the moment, I do not
consider as much as I should and as much as my posts would imply.
I am undecided as to whether it is possible to be constantly playing my A game and actually
consider the multitude of variables that flash through my head when
contemplating a hand at leisure, safe in the knowledge that my bankroll doesn’t
have to actually suffer the consequences. What I am sure of, is that I am definitely
capable of playing my A game more often than I am and that is what I will
strive to do.
I am going to think up some realistic yet challenging aims
for myself and post them next. Then I will be updating as regularly as possible
on whether I am sticking to the plan.
