How poker changed your lives?

I'm an Italian,25 year,student and grinder...after years of crazy(and lucky)shots at high stakes that permitted me to live like a baller between people of my age,i went almost broke mixing life and poker rolls..anyway i'm happy of how things gone,i went some months in mexico and found love there,but now i'm trying to rebuild my bankroll and my ego grinding low stakes like I never did in my life...i played lots of hours and also studied more than ever the game but in 2013 it's really difficult to make real money with NLHE...there are lots of poker schools and everyone(nearly everyone)knows what he's doing..i am asking if it's worth to pursue success in this world by studying and studying and studying and also playing infinite hours,ruining my plans like a student(whatever-in italy there are no jobs anyway) and like a "normal" person or if is not?and if it's worth,why?
what was your pick between poker and "normal" life,and why?how poker did change your life?
