Help - NLHE vs Omaha?

Hi All,

My history with poker is mostly with NLHE and Tournaments. At the peak of the poker boom I was good enough to make plenty of pocket money in the game but as the game has progressed and got tougher and my time and commitment has waned I would probably struggle to do much more than break even with the rake at 10NL on pokerstars today.

I have about 4 months coming up where relocation will be taking me away from my family and I expect to have some time in the evenings and on weekends to kill. I plan on putting in some time in the gym but think I will commit a fair bit of the rest of my free time to poker. I have signed up for the essentials plan and am now trying to decide where to commit:

  • Work at improving at NL 6max
  • Work at learning PLO almost from scratch (I know the mechanics and a few very basic fundamentals but have never played much)
  • Work at NL Tourneys

My gut feel is NL tourneys would deliver me the best bang for my time but it is a bigger time commitment and I am not sure I want to commit to that.

So narrowing it down to cash games which do you think has the potential to be more profitable? I will have time to study and play a lot for the next 4 months and thereafter will be putting in less time but will probably still aim to play 12 to 15 hours a week going forward next year. Is 4 months enough time to progress at PLO to the point where I can be a profitable hobbyist / rec at say 25c/50c on pokerstars or would I be better served trying to improve my NL game in this block.

Also - if its pokerstars vs party at this stage which are people focussing on. Are there any other sites I should be considering if residing in the UK.

TIA
