Eye strain from poker
Hey guys,
I'm playing on a Mac 5K retina display. It's an incredible machine, but it's straining my eyes a lot. When I'm out in the real world i'm almost dizzy/disassociated with reality. I think this is because I'm looking at the screen too long and straining my eyes.
Do you have any solutions to minimize eye strain and to make the screen as eye/brain friendly as possible? Any specific monitors that are good? I'm thinking of just getting a windows computer because I can't use CREV on a Mac anyway (without bootcamp and switching back and forth blah blah) and I want to run hands daily on it.
Thanks

You can try to use an app called Flux, this can change the color temperature of the screen to match the environment. This helps allot with playing in the evening/night.
Btw your Mac should easily be able to run win8 alongside mac osx with vmware fusion ; )
how does vmware works
flux is the bomb
Pretty easy it lets you install windows to run along side, you can tweak the settings so it doesn't slow down things too much. I got a 4yold macbook and its smooth sailing w win8 so i take it the newest 5k mac has no problem handling it. Its nice to have poker separate from all the other stuff :)
Man, thanks a lot. Installed it and everything works perfectly. Own you one!
A lot of poker players give good feedback on this product:

Waiting on a pair of these to be delivered!
+1 to flux
Awesome, will try thanks very much.
AHH my eyes feel better already. A bit darker/more orange but i'm sure i'll get used to it. Might get the glasses as well!
yeah flux takes some time getting used to but after a while seeing a regular screen will feel like looking into straight white brightness
Last month I bought a pair of gunnar glasses and downloaded flux. The combination of both has made a massive improvement in my daily life.
Both together would be too much for me personally I think. I use the gunnar wi-five glasses on my desktop/laptop when working (or watching tv). I run f.lux on my windows 8 dell venue pro 8 that I use laying in bed to surf and watch tv in the dark so I don't need the glasses.
