Breaks (Vacations) Work

When one encounters a downswing, then decides that it's best to take a little break, (vacation), from the game, you're doing the right thing! It really does work wonders. I myself, encountered a decent downswing last month, and came to the conclusion that a break from the game was in need. I took a little over a week off from the game I love, (NLHE), and decided to focus on other things besides just poker. Eating healthy, and exercise we're, (and still are), my other main areas of focus. During my vacation, I dedicated some time to doing both and I think it's paying off. I feel like my head is clearing up, and I'm becoming more able to put things into a better perspective. A more positive one I should mention. I didn't completely let myself go from the game either while on vacation. It's hard to when you love to do something so much. I thought it would be best to study up. Read some chapters in a couple classic poker books I recently purchased, which are, "Super System: A Course In Power Poker" by Doyle Brunson, and "Caro's Book Of Poker Tells" by Mike Caro. (If you guys have any other good book choices, feel free to let me know.) Also, kept up with the poker forums, mainly on this site, and watched some poker strategy videos, along with reading more articles.

Like I said earlier, when in a downswing, take a break from the game to re-evaluate your situation. It does work wonders and you feel better coming back to the tables. And when you break that downswing streak, (hopefully after a little vacation), it feels like a weight has been lifted off of your shoulders.
