Beat when do u finally give up?

So I'm not even sure if this is where I should post this but whatever. LTDR I've been playing poker for over probably 4-5 years and I still can't beat nl10 I play on a site that doesn't even offer huds or let me have saveable HH's. So most of the content I see here I feel is at most times useless. I always feel like to win not only do I have to run well/decent but I also have to play really well. Well do u fnally give up?

Why are you playing poker?

If it is to make money then I would say it is probably time to quit. If you have been playing and working hard on your game for 4-5 years and still cant beat nl10 I would think there are better ways for you to achieve the goal of making money.

If you are playing poker because you enjoy playing poker then there is nothing wrong with it being a fun hobby and you should continue to do so as long as you can afford to lose the $ you play with.

As the saying goes, the definition of insanity is to keep doing the same thing over and over and expecting different outcomes. :-)

What you are doing does not seem to work. So change your study method/habit, change your game, or change your site to somewhere where you can use a HUD (not necessary to win, but nice to have).

And if you tilt and spew often, stop it. That is a common showstopper for players who have some skill but are not able to win consistently.

I have 0 way to know how much I win before rake in bb the site doesn't allow huds or any saveable hand histories.

I live in Las Vegas I can't play on Bovada (i think they offer a hud) I'm really awful I have tilt issues and more then anything I can't read hands worth shit. I never fold relatively strong hands etc.

Super tilted took me 4days to win like 10bis lost it all in like 5hours

This is destructive thought process and a bad way to look at poker results that will only lead to tilt and other issues that do not help your poker game.

If you do not have tracking software how do you know it took 4 days to win 10bis and then you lost it in 5 hours? Sounds like you are tracking your results very closely. This is cancerous for a poker players game.

A common trend I see from a lot of low stakes players that never move up is that they are so focused on making money that it hinders their learning process and they never take the time to actually get good at the game. I have a friend that I set a staking/coaching deal up with and I thought he had the potential to get good at the game and make some money but he was so focused on results all the time that it ruined him. If he had a losing session he would blow of study to get back in and play trying to make his money back. He would half ass study all the time because he was just focused on making money. This is exactly how you do not make $ in poker.

If your sole goal for poker is to make money then you never will. Change your goal to trying to become the best player you can be and if you get close to that then the $ will come in.

The money isn't made at the table, it's made in the lab grinding away in an attempt to figure out this beautiful game.

Excellent post by Raraulbl. A good way to overcome your results orientated mindset is to make a diary and write in it after each session which includes your level of play from 1-5, your level of tilt from 1-5 and just overall mistakes which you then can go over and see if you've fixed those leaks and completely understood where you went wrong. Look at this instead of your graph to determine your progress. Also when you make a big call and lose don't think of it as losing a BI think in terms of the time he'll have a different hand in his range and you'll win other times.

The site I play on doesn't allow downloadable hand histories. So I can't check any EV or review sessions very easily. How I track my results? Just see how much I started with in my balance. I currently play 10nl /20nl

Pretty funny when I made this thread i was down to my last 30 dollars. Then I had a 30bi upswing. Big pots came from some deep play and NL. I appreciate everyone who's read or even took the time to reply my ramblings. Thanks a ton guys!

Now onto poker, being that I play on a site that doesn't allow me to use ANY form of tracking software alot of the content on this site seems hard for me to follow. My next question on home work outside of the tablet.

How do I go about doing this homework? Equilab?? Card Runners ev? (is this essential?) can I use those two without really having a hud or tracking software? How do I go about "Building my range?" I know this sounds like a stupid question. Outside of knowing my opening ranges etc I don't usually have a solid idea where things fit into my overall range.

Thanks guys :)

what site doesn't give you HH? Could it be that discussing tilt here helped your game? Seems so. We all have the issue and I think the lowest stakes are very frustrating b/c high rake makes it difficult to win. Low stakes also have weird mix of grinder/reg/good players and bluffers so it's tempting to call big bets. The videos here available for $10/month are great for learning hand reading and are the best deal i've found. It's only 1/2 buy-in! Most of the time when they bet big on the river they have it, but did they bet, bet , bet or make a huge river bet on the river when draws missed? Keep posting and find someone you can go over hands with. Any time a big hand arises, sit out and write it down. Post it or talk it over with someone. Timing tells are pretty reliable in micros: quick river big bet often indicates strength (villain making it look bluffy). Just fold if not sure, write down hand and discuss it.

30 BIs is HUGE! $600? You def know how to play. Check out "The Mental Game of Poker: Proven Strategies for Improving Tilt Control" by Jared Tendler.

You gotta be at peace to make those big folds. When ur at peace u know he has it & don't need to pay to see it.
