Hi Guys,
I think being a member of a community can be tremendously helpful in the process of achieving ones goals, so I decided to start becoming a more active RiO member.
Few words about me, I play PLO, mainly 100/200 ZOOM, been playing for a long time (~5 years, LHE -> NLHE -> PLO ) and for a last 4 years it has been how I've been getting by. I have not achieved great success, highest i've been playing was midstakes NLHE and PLO, i've been busto one time after being 100BI below EV, right after I switched to PLO but managed to get back on my feet throu staking. I've been playing 100/200 ZOOM for the last 1 or 2 years, staying in pretty much the same place in the way of poker and personal finances overall.
Anyway, last month I lost large portion of my bankroll due to some bad decision making outside of poker. I've been pretty bummed up for a day or two, then decided maybe it's a blessing in disguise for I cannot be content with how I treated myself, finances, life itself in the last couple of years.
I've made some changes, I read a book called "The Slight Edge" by Jeff Olson which has been very helpful in the process of making adjustments in my thinking and acting outside and inside poker. I'm 6 months away of getting my masters degree, which pushes me to grow in poker, since I could be starting more "traditional" career instead.
My plan for april:
psychically:
-> implement daily routines, in the spirit of this article ( http://www.artofmanliness.com/2015/03/25/you-are-not-a-zoo-animal-how-to-escape-human-captivity-and-reclaim-your-primal-health/ )
-> continue to play badminton and football (usually 1-3 times a week)
-> continue not drinking alcohol
-> test: eating more fruit shakes and more steamed food
financially:
-> put a set amount on a savings account (1st of every month)
-> save more throu not ordering food more than once a week (also improves my cooking skills) and not drinking alcohol (improves overall health as well)
poker:
-> get back to 200 ZOOM (3k profit will allow me to start playing 200 with a 10BI stop loss)
I know those are far from Joey 750 day twitch stream challenge caliber, but what I've learned is for me slow and steady progress works better than trying to achieve epic goals all at once.
Apart from this I intend to continue my daily habits:
-> 30 minutes of poker video (focusing on the tought process of author and writing down notes for later usage)
-> reading (any sort - right now it will be Eckhart Tolle "New Earth" and final part of Asian Saga by Clavell - "Whirlwind")
-> lesson in duolingo
-> create a plan for the next day
Those are pretty easy to do, but intentionally so, because I've found out that difficult daily tasks do not work for me, and easy tasks with each day help to get momentum going in my favor.
Allright, that will be all for now, its time to put myself to get those goals done. GL all in april :)
