80–20 rule - How it applies in poker?
Pareto principle, also known as the 80-20 rule, has become quite popular in the business world and in self-development. It basically suggests that 80% of your results come from 20% of the things you do.
What do you think is the 20% that we do that produces 80% of the results in poker? Is there such a thing(s)?

80% of your success in poker comes from improving your strategy and fixing the worst leaks (not mental game, eating well or warming up).
Most of your winrate improvements comes from fixing the weakest parts of your strategy and not perfecting a few parts.
Kalupso LOL. Mental game is 100% of your skill, without it you wouldn't be able to pass thru micros. Alot of the times biggest leaks are acctually mental.
Samu Patronen 100% of your income comes from solid, constant game. In any area almost all of your results comes from the most important things. In poker it's playing on a certain level for a certain period of time. You can learn as much as you can but if you don't apply it, and don't play, you earn zero.
I would say that, you will get the most from acctually playing and learning in the process.
most of your results (the 80%) end up being tied with bankroll management (which I will equate with a small part of my game, say 20%, but integral with far ranging effects)
exercise poor bankroll management and despite your being skilled, your results may suck
exercise good bankroll management and if you are skilled, you will most likely see that reflected in your results
small adjustment really (bankroll management) but big impact
I have come to a conclusion that the most important things are:
These are the most important things simply because if you lack these, no matter how sick GTO wizard you are, you will fail sooner or later. And if you happen to make a lot of money, it'll be a very stressful road and it won't be worth the effort in the long-run (burnout, fatigue etc).
Whereas if you have all these qualities but you lack the knowledge most crushers have, you will have decent success anyway AND you'll have a good potential to improve your game and get better without losing your mind.
So I would really just put all my energy into these things first, and once I truly master all of these, I would start focusing on more specific stuff (understanding GTO, bluffing frequencies on the river etc...)
I'm not saying that GTO is important. All I'm saying is that without those 4 things above having superior poker skill doesn't really do much. It would be like a very skilled painting artist who makes his work with a toothbrush. How many people are trying to lose weight with pills and stuff when they should start with most important things such as nutrition, exercise and sleep? I think it is quite important to think about what are the most important things, focus on those and once we master those things, we can start putting more and more effort to stuff that is lower on our priority list as poker players. This applies in every area of our life really.
Maths.
