2021 Microstakes Grind
Hi guys,
I'm creating this thread to track my progress and see will go.
I've been playing poker on and off for a few years and have some new found time. I will be starting at 5NL on American sites and I'll be posting here 1-2 times a week to track my progress and will be open to advice. I would rather start at 5NL (although I have contemplated throwing in a bankroll for 25-50NL) because I have a ton of tilt/mental game issues that need to be resolved.

Greetings people and future self!
This week has been amazing in terms of getting to know myself while grinding. I noticed how much mental endurance I lack when going 1.5k-2k hands in a day and I'll need to work on that.
I'm somewhat new to 5NL compared to the stakes I used to play (10NL/25NL). Although 10/25NL have many maniacs and calling stations [even in Zoom pools], their bluffing frequency at 5NL is so high and I noticed most seem illogical when it comes to bluff selection. They pounce at the sight of weakness.
Due to the lack of running 5NL tables during the week, I played 10NL and 10NLz to accommodate the lack of potential volume.
5NL graph:

Overall:

I ran pretty well in All-In EV although getting it good most of the time and overall happy with my performance and decrease of tilt with the decreased amount of tables. From these graphs, it appear my redline needs work and I need to look for spots where bluffing and bluff-catching have merits -- the pools I play in underfold and have extremely high cbet frequencies especially in 3bet pots.
The comparison of 5NL vs 10NLz pools is that the 5NL regs don't understand which boards to bet with the following sizings and frequencies which threw me off. There were many imbalances with the 10NLz pool but moving down to 5NL has been a culture shock.
The 10NLz pool has change since the last time I played a few months ago. There are a lot more limpers and passive players. There are also a lot more players who don't buy-in for the max.
For both pools, I'll need a bigger sample of hands to run some database analyses and GTO solves that correspond with different strategies for different spots. God, it feels like such a long time ago since I've analyzed solves.

After last week, I noticed a dip in overall decision making when playing 5NL reg vs 10NLz/25NLz. It seems like I don't respect the stakes as much as the other since it is of less monetary value. This is flawed thinking. The reason I moved down was to mainly fix my mental game leaks -- increasing focus/endurance in relation to more volume -- to hop back up stakes. I'll need to remind myself about this while playing.
Another discrepancy I noticed moving to reg tables for the meantime is how I'm taking into consideration how a specific player plays without considering how the overall pool plays in relation to GTO frequencies. I think this is because I'm not used to having the same seating arrangement of same players for the entirety of my session. I'll also need to take pool averages into consideration while taking advantage of the normal over aggressive or over passive players.
Goals
[ ]10k Hands - at least 5k hands of 5NL
[ ] update this at least once this week
I might consider switching to a later schedule if that would help volume at this stake since I've had more free time since a few weeks ago.
