Villain shows 99 for boat
In game I tank for awhile. I pretty certain that this villain isn't betting this sizing with any of his 1010-KK hands. Figured the check on turn could represent a few things. Pot control/two street game with AQ/AK type hands, checking down his big pairs under Ace. Think its a pretty bad river call given its hard for him to show up here with worse. He's not betting A10suited like this and I'm losing to thinner value hands like AQ, and crushed by traps like 99. Maybe a really small frequency he turns a hand like KK thinking Im very capped but very unlikely.
Wondering if folding pre is too tight given I immediately found myself in an awkward spot on an Ace high dry board.

Villain is a good player. Plays appropriate ranges and gets money in good. Is not prone to over bluffing and sits more in firmly in the value side of the game tree.

We jam all in.
Villain tables AQ
Brick river
Can we ever get away from this turn? Stacks seem to dictate no. Losing to KK, JJ, AQ. This villain doesn't have Q9 suited or 55 here, and slows down with AJ 99 hands. Beating some KJ and KQ QQ hands he'll be betting some of the time
I think the mistake may have been not raising flop. I think a check here is fine, but I suspect raising and targeting all his overpairs is going to win us the most chips long term.

Was definitely planning to jam river on non heart turn 2/3 on heart river. Thought the jam would fold the farm given we have no showdown value anyway.

Agree with a lot of this. A few things.
I think this villain 5bets KK almost always, AQs probably mostly folds, maybe a very small frequency this deep.
JJ is certainly a possible holding, Though I think leading turn when club rolls off with JJ is not super likely even with Jc.
Villain should always have a club when bluffing so AK with c seems like a likely holding.
When i do flat his call I have a small frequency of JJ myself, so the jam on river with paired 7 seems interesting, and starts to have me thinking in this particular spot give action and runout.

Thoughts on 3 barreling this runout? I think by river we put hands like 10s and JJ in a really tough spot. Even a hand like 88 is in spot.

Played a lot with this villain. Very capable of running big bluffs, solid but can be prone to over bluffing in spots.

Flop is definitely better for villains range. A check in this spot makes a lot of sense. Would never choose a larger sizing on this board and had I not had the Ah i would have checked. Plan was to to down bet flop and size up a bit on heart turns and keep stacks in a place where if I got to the river I could jam bricks or value bet/or jam river hearts. The 9 was not the best heart. I thought the sizings on flop and turn allowed for the river bet sizing to hold the most fold equity. Im certainly targeting the weaker part of his range and yes I think I get snapped by some hands, though villain is prone to laying it down in tough spots. I see your point though and in the end it was a "lets follow through on the plan and hope the story holds"
