Roll Question Playing "semi-rolled" shot taking

After reading I feel this is somewhat of a stupid question, however I pay money to use the site so I figure I may as well 'use' it.

Just looking for more of an opinion or guidance on being semi-rolled for a live game. The game is 1/2plo 500 cap. I just recently moved and the game is pretty weak/passive, a lot of players playing fit or fold. Most of the time playing 9 handed, but probably %20-%25 of the time we get 3-6 handed where I feel a gain a big edge. I have a salaried income of about bring home 3.5k a month, so therefore I am not 'playing for a living'. However I do try to play 30-40 hours a week depending on my weekend schedules.

Recently I have been buying in full cap, after moving here (a week ago) I have played 6 sessions 4 winning and 2 losing with one large loss. Most of the times my wins have been smaller (3 less than 1 BI), and my losses 1 BI or greater. Overall as of now I am break even, but a tiny sample of maybe 40 hours (and getting in %60 equity on turns in my two biggest losses). Not to ramble, but I am confident I can beat the game. To the question.

The max buy in is 500, which is typical for me, however not other 'fishy' players. With a 7k bankroll and no worries of living expenses is buying in max fine? I feel with my style (unless we are short handed) taking 2 or 3 shells of 300 could be more effective than say two shells of 500. For the most part I would say my game is not a high varience style (however I know PLO in general is) I know this will not maximize my wins, but generally in this game only the knowing players have 500+. Which really I am not looking to get it in with a ton as usually I am even money, try to play pot control vs these 'regs'. Just curious as to an opinion on if buying in for 300 in full ring games is worth looking at? Or am I losing to much value for the xtra $200? I guess I am just concerned about minimizing my losses, and maximizing my gains.
