More of a general question actually. Villain is a tough regular with typical wide BB defense. What should a default plan look like on the turn? I have conflicting thoughts. On the one hand I prefer betting, because I don't want to just rely on hitting my draw to win the pot. On the other hand I feel like I get played back at in these spots more often than I'm comfortable with (I might be biased). Is there merit in checking back and trying to bluff bet or raise some rivers, next to sometimes winning with a flush, two pair or trips? Or am I not making the most out of the semi-bluff potential of my hand by not betting the turn, and failing to build the pot in the process in case I get there? Or is there even something to be said for betting and calling a c/r and dicking around on some scare card rivers? Any thoughts appreciated.
