NLO50 (Live) 200BB deep with middle set + OESD
9 handed live home game of dealer's choice no limit holdem, pineapple, or omaha. Blinds $0.25/$0.50. This round is NL Omaha.
Villain in this hand is BTN who is the only other person at the table who really knows how to play poker. He's a typical live player that knows how to value bet hard and is OK at picking a good spot to bluff here or there. But he is far from balanced and plays way too many hands. In the past I've seen him be aggressive with his draws in Omaha. But he doesn't always fire the third barrel if he misses. He is up mostly from everyone else at the table being terrible and running hot. That being said I'm also a n00b at Omaha :)
EP ($60) limps; spewy fish
Hero MP ($100) limps with 9d7d7s6c
BTN ($150) limps; loose reg
SB ($20) completes; weak tight fish
BB ($40) checks; extremely nitty fish
Flop: 8h7h2c ($2.50)
EP checks, Hero bets $2.00, BTN raises to $7, SB folds, BB folds, EP calls $7.00, Hero calls $5.00
Turn: Th ($23.50)
EP checks, Hero checks, BTN bets $10.00, EP folds, Hero calls $10.00
River: Kd ($43.50)
Hero checks, BTN checks
My main question in this hand is on the flop. Would 3-betting here be over playing my hand? I decided to just flat to keep the pot small and being OOP sucks.
On the turn it's a pretty easy call given the small bet I think. We can still hit our boat and beat better straights/flushes.
