Huge discrepancies between six-max and shorthanded results
I was going through my PT database last night when I made some interesting observations.
I consider myself a very competent and aggressive PLO player. Over a sample of 50,000 hands I'm winning at roughly 8 bb/100 (all-in equity adjusted) at PLO25. Then I filtered my results for 5 to 6 players dealt in the hand (which account for roughly 80% of my total hands) and my winrate more then doubled to ~ 17 bb/100. This means I must be pretty awful at shorthanded and heads up play. I did the same thing for other regulars in my games and they don't seem to suffer from this. Infact their shorthanded winrates are usually higher (which is how it should be I suppose).
Intuatively I would say that I'm way too passive postflop particular in heads up play. Which is curious as this is not a feature of my regular play. My overall stats are 31/22/6.5, filtered for 5-6 handed 28/20/6, filtered for 2-4 handed 39/31/7, filtered for HU 49/43/8. I think all these stats are reasonable (maybe too tight preflop at HU?) but the problem is I'm losing big with up to 4 players in the hand. Sample size could be an issue but I'm actually not too surprised at my findings. I start my own tables occasionally to attract recreational players but I definitely don't feel I have a big edge whoever sits down. Often it seems to me I just get run over by aggression from regulars and very bad players alike.
I really want to get better at HU play now. Has anyone got any recommendations or advice? There doesn't seem to be too much material out that outlines a comprehensive strategy which is what I am looking for.
Thanks for your help!
