50PLO - Gutshot + 2nd nut flush draw in 3b pot: Ok spot for checkraise?

BN: $243.59
SB: $56.35
BB: $52.50 (Hero)
UTG: $184.15
HJ: $54.91
CO: $20.06
Preflop ($0.75) (6 Players)
Hero was dealt K K A 2
UTG folds, HJ folds, CO folds, BN raises to $1.25, SB folds, Hero raises to $4, BN calls $2.75
Flop ($8.75) J 8 T (2 Players)
Hero checks, BN bets $5.50, Hero raises to $24.38, BN raises to $81.02, Hero calls $24.12, and is all in

My thought process on the flop was that I have decent equity vs almost everything he has yet if I bet and get called I will be lost on a lot of turns. By check raising I let him bet/fold some hands that have equity and I make the hand easier for me to play (not a great reason to make a play I know but if I can make a play that may not be the best but stops me from making bigger mistakes I think that's ok)

Is my thinking right here? Did I play this well?

Thanks in advance.
