Strategy facing a 3bet OOP!

Hi everyone,

Today I would like to open a discussion about your strategy when you face a 3bet when you are OOP.

For example we open UTG and get 3bet by BTN, or We Open MP and get 3bet by CO. situations like this.

I think some time ago, it was more fashionable to never (or almost never) call a 3bet OOP and solve the hand preflop by 4betting or folding. defending roughly 33% of our opening range to prevent villain from making a profit with his 3bet.

Nowadays seems like people call more 3bets OOP.

There is the second vid of Ben, (part 2 Zoom 5/10) where he analyzes pretty deeply a situation where he calls a 3bet OOP (from UTG vs BTN) with 89s flop JT6r and decide to check-raise. As he talks about the hand, he gives a good idea about his calling range which includes suited broadways, good pairs including some KK combos.

Id like to ask you guys what is your strategy preflop and whats the plan post flop , assuming we're playing against a somewhat balanced reg.

Are there still some guys who never call 3bet OOP ? if not, what do you think about this strategy?

I can give a hand as an example where I tried to imitate the mentor and got owned :D

I opened Th9h from MP, CO 3bets ( 10% 3bet from CO) quite high 3bet% so I decided to call and play postflop. Flop comes 4s 6s 8h so i get bdFD and a gutter. I decided to check/call (instead of check-raising from Ben's video) my idea was to rep a pair and bluff river if turn goes ch-check, and why not check/raise turn if I hit a heart or maybe a J, also can check/call turn if I hit a T or 9.

Turn 3d goes check-check.
So now my plan is to bluff the river.

River Ac

Really not the best card to bluff obviously when you look at my range, but still I don't have any showdown value, what else can I do, really don't want to showdown my Thigh.

I go ahead and bet 3/4 pot, he snap calls with A5o..... LOL

Alright, if any thought, idea, advice , feel free to post :)

TY !
