Overcalling ranges
In numerous 6 max videos made by Ben Sulsky or Tyler Forrester a situation such as this will arise: Villain one opens hijack, villain two calls on the button, we are in the BB getting odds of approximately one trillion to one and thus decide to overcall with our somewhat trashy hand. How do we construct our 3 bet ranges in these scenarios?
Is the argument:
A) We want to use a somewhat polarized (bottom of our profitable call) range as our squeezing range, reasoning that a hand like Q7s (just an arbitrary hand) will be profitable as a call closing the action therefore we should select a hand below it.
B) We want to use a more merged range since the suited trash hands at the bottom of our calling range will likely preform somewhat poorly OOP in 3 bet pots after narrowing villains' ranges, but can still make us money in single raised pots
C) We don't need to 3 bet at a high frequency in this spot as so many of our hands will be profitable calls it is unnecessary to turn them into 3 bet bluffs which may or may not bet profitable. If C) is true, how do we reconcile this with the fact that our 3 bet range will be somewhat value heavy in this spot? Wouldn't this hurt the value of our nutted hands?
Any input is very much welcome, but I would certainly love to hear from someone who can lend some mathematical rigor to this question.
