NL5 Defending capped range oop in 3-bet pot after two checks

Blinds: $0.02/$0.05 (6 Players) BN: $5.00
SB: $5.78 (Hero)
BB: $4.85
UTG: $10.75
MP: $5.00
CO: $6.43
Preflop ($0.07) Hero is SB with T T
UTG raises to $0.12, 3 folds, Hero raises to $0.48, BB folds, UTG calls $0.36
Flop ($1.01) 2 8 K
Hero checks, UTG checks
Turn ($1.01) 2 8 K 5
Hero checks, UTG bets $0.95, Hero calls $0.95
River ($2.91) 2 8 K 5 6
Hero checks, UTG bets $2.20, Hero folds

This is a flop that I am selectively betting as the oop 3-bettor with Kx and BDFD. With TT, I elect to check flop and check turn with the intention to fire a small bet on the river against any card lower than T. After my turn check, Villain bets big twice. I am becoming quite paranoid in such spots lately because I am capping my range so much with the two checks and I am unsure whether competent Villains on my limit are just exploiting this.

Is TT a call on the river? Better hands that I can call are JJ and QQ. Is it enough if I defend only these? I never have KQs here since I am not 3-betting this pre vs. UTG.
