NL10 Zoom - Overbetting River with AA
Firstly, this is my first post on here so sorry for any formatting issues!
I have no information on Villain and so I didn't want to make the 3bet to large as players had been folding a lot to my 3x+ 3bets in this session. When Villain flat calls I think I can put him on any medium pairs all the way up to QQ possibly if he's being extra tight and any good Ax hand. The flop is good for a standard c-bet and I think I'll hear about a set if Villain re-raises as I have position. In my opinion Villain's call on the flop narrows down his range to probably 88-QQ and AJ/AK so I'm in good shape heading to the turn. Turn is an 8, doesn't change too much for me but it could have hit Villain perhaps? Villain checks so I decide to check behind for pot control and because I feel like only better hands will call a second barrel, plus this may look weak to Villain with maybe AK or some air hand giving up on the bluff. River comes a 3 and Villain checks again, now I'm confident I have the best hand and have Villain on 66/99/TT or AK. I think I have two options here, either thin value or a big overbet. I opt to shove for ~2x pot because it polarizes me to either 'having it' or AK/AQ and is more likely to get a hero call from said hands. Villain tanks for all their time bank and eventually calls with a second left, shows QQ and I win the pot, happy days! I'm a bit surprised because I would of thought Villain 4bets pre-flop or leads the river with what he thinks is the best hand, but i'm happy nonetheless!
Opinions on how I played this and any suggestions to how I could've played it better?
Thanks!
