Live Ranges

So, something I have been thinking about lately.

In my local 1-3 game, the cap is $500, 8-max(covid)

My typical open is 15 EP, and then like $13/14 MP, and $12 on button

I think from button and CO, I can play pretty similar ranges as I would online, possibly opening just a touch wider in some instances because of low 3betting and poor postflop play

But, in earlier positions, say LJ specifically, if we are often 4.5x-5xing it preflop, do we "need" to be opening a tighter range? I question things like 98s, 87s, A2s, etc being opened from LJ when we are open raising to 4-5x. I guess part of the equation will be dependent on the stack depth at the table, deeper stacks in blinds incentivizing us to open these more marginal opens to play pots IP deep.

The player types are mostly very soft, with a couple good regs in the mix, but typically max of 1 or 2 average to great regs. Some of the soft players are extremely splashy/willing to call very light.

With loose splashy people behind(not necessarily super aggressive over mult streets, but more sticky/stabby/can stack off light), do we just need to play a tighter strategy and fold more low cards like 87s, 98s, A2s type stuff?

My inclination when using larger raise sizes pre is to just play a range more centered around big cards. But not 100% about it. I seem to see some people advocating for playing looser, but it may just be a misconception on their part and not actually higher EV.

KNow alot being thrown out there, but any broad insight into how you may be adjusting your ranges from each position when playing in games where you have to raise bigger preflop to get pots headsup? (just that sentence alone makes me feel playing tight is the right approach; if people are giving you a ton of action for big sizes with a tight range, then why do anything different? haha; but maybe I am missing something)
