Live HU tourney preparation
I am thinking of playing in a $5k buy-in live HU tourney about in 2 weeks. The structure is not announced yet, but I think we will start with 10k stack, and the blinds will increase from 25/50 every 30 min or so (I might be wrong though).
I have been playing HUSNG's for 3+ years and have a lot of experience in < 75bb deep poker (about 2 mil hands or so), and would like to think I am fairly competent in medium/shallow stacked HU poker. However, I am not very familiar with deeper stacked play, say > 125bb deep, mostly because we don't get to that stack depth in HUSNG's and I haven't really touched HU cash either.
That said, how would you prepare for this live tourney where we will start with ~200bb stack? I have been trying to play a lot of HU cash online and watch some NLHU vids because I'm approaching this more as a cash game than tourney, but would there be other efficient ways to improve my game? I was thinking of playing somewhat similar to my HUSNG default playing style, for example min raising my button, and then adjust accordingly whenever necessary. How does this sound? And what about things like "you have to give up a small edge in these tourneys" argument? This is already a lot of questions, but I would greatly appreciate any advice on this.
I know, 2 weeks is not a lot of prep time, but that's all I got now. :o
Thanks in advance guys!
