Is there a way to improve our win rate in Californian live games with their rake structure(aka 'the drop')?
Hello guys,
First time poster on Run It Once forums.
I just watched the video 'Improving Live Winrate' and I was wondering if there is anything in particular that I could do to adjust to the particular live games I play at the most.
The local casino's here implement the drop which just means that every pot is raked 6$ + 1$(jackpot) every time that a flop is seen!
This sometimes means that a pot can be raked 50% or more depending on the stakes but it also means that even a 5k pot is still only raked 7$.
Obviously this distinctivenesses us to play heads up pots and to ever limp but do you have any other particular adjustments to make in this sort of a game?
Let's suppose two different games? 2/3 (300$) and 5/5 (1000$) cap games.
I suspect it is not worth playing single raised HU pots at all in the 2/3$ scenario and I'm not sure its worth defaulting to a 3bet or fold strategy to compensate with middling hands like KJ and AT. Would it make more sense to avoid playing those hands altogether to avoid HU pots? Keep in mind that the profitability of these games is not in question. They are highly profitable which sometimes sounds crazy when you think about the rake.
Let me know what you think.
Regard
