Defending vs 3-B from Button when raising over multiple limps
Live 2-5
2 limpers who are pretty weak, they have 500 and 1k eff
Hero on Bttn w 140bb eff raises Bttn AQo to 6bb
SB who seems to be a Reg and is 180bb eff 3bets to 20bb($100)
Limpers fold, action on Hero
Hero folds
So after the fact, I thought that my fold was maybe a bit nitty. I honestly felt that 4betting would be the option to take before flatting, just given the dynamic.
But I was thinking about it, and the range of hands I would 3b in the SB shoes is likely something like QJs, KJs, AQ, AK, JJ+, ATs, and then I probably would flat 66-TT just to set mine and keep the weak players in the hand. I think this is likely similar to what alot of Regs will probably do in this scenario. Especially in live, when limpers are liable to cold call, I think 3betting things like A5s here(as well as my range being tighter with the limpers), becomes less likely.
We are getting $70/208 = 33% equity to get in there. AQo raw equity vs QJs, KJs, ATs, AQ, AK, JJ+ is around 42-43%. Usually I am defending this all day under normal circumstances. But I think our EQR is going to be lower, as how can we really float many flops when his range is going to be quite narrow and quite strong. So our 43% maybe drops closer to 28%, given I Think we just have to fold nearly any flop we whiff, and our outs still have alot of domination issues.
It seems that we are in no way ever really make a large mistake by folding this pre here in a live dynamic and gathering info. Obv if we start seeing AJo here from him, or A5s, we need to adjust our thinking.
As far as building a 4betting range, I think we prob aren't going to be doing much, but the best "bluff" to me seems like KQs(other than the premium stuff such as AK/QQ+).
KQs blocks QQ/KK/AK(jamming range), while doesn't block AQ as hard as having AQ ourself. it also has overcards to JJ, and also doesn't block potential 3bets such as TT.
It's possible we don't need to 4b bluff outside of QQ+/AK at all, but I do like being able to because A) I think it is probably slightly profitable, and B) it makes us harder to play against C) keeps regs from messing with our isolations as much.
Anyways, am I missing something here? Am I just being a huge nit, or is my analysis of this dynamic accurate?
Cheers :)
