Calling 3 bets oop with SCs 6h5h 200bb deep
UTG+1 : very loose aggro stats that I would estimate to be playing around 45/30, but irrelevant for this hand.
BB: new player to this table, but was on the list for $5/$10, so I would view him as competent. He is an Asian male in his 40s that I would view as a pretty tight player, but no modern strategy in terms of bet sizing, which you will see. He hasn't been at the table very long, so not much info on him.
This is a $3/$5 live game with $500 cap buy-in, but stacks have started to get some what deep as UTG+1 the whale of the game is on a heater sitting on about $3500.
PREFLOP
UTG+1 ($3,500) opens $30 (usual open is $20-$25)
fold to hero SB ($1500) 6h5h who elects to call.
BB ($955) squeeze to $105
UTG+1 folds - which I thought was weird given stack depth and position which he opened from, but he does open hands like T9o from EP, so hard to know what he folded.
Hero calls $75 to win $165.
Given what I know about BB over tiny sample and sizing I am ranging him as TT+ AJs+ here.
Question #1 given stack depth, is calling preflop here oop bad or just high variance?
Flop ($240) Tc6d3c
Hero checks, BB makes a polarizing cbet of $200. Given the range I assigned I don't think KK+ needs much protection here on this texture vs a 3bet calling range, so I am thinking he may be bluffing some with AQ AK type hands or trying to protect a hand like QQ or JJ. Given I have flopped some equity and a small bdsd is it best to call here or just give villain credit for an over pair? My line of thought was he wouldn't barrel his AJ+ type hands unless he improves, so I can check fold a lot of turns where I don't improve and he continues to barrel. If he checks back the turn, I can take my sdv on the river or possible bet thin value or bluff catch. I elected to call the large cbet.
Turn ($640) Tc-6d-3c-5c
Hero checks, villain shoves $650, given villain range assessment I only lose to 1-3 combos of flushes, which I don't expect him to shove here, so now it looks more like an over pair with a club or a hand like AK with a club, on either case I am not folding on this turn, so I called it off.
River ($1940) Tc-6d-3c-5c-8s
Villain XX? Hero 6h5h
All constructive criticism is welcomed. Thanks for the feed back =)
