Adjusting to large raise sizes in live games
Title explains it all.
In my live 1-3 game, I face alot of 5-7x open raises. They aren't necessarily opening super tight all the time either. Will have alot of offsuit broadway type stuff, and PP's, and occasionally wild things like 23s.
When I face a raise like this and I am in the CO/Bttn with a hand like QTs, I'm not sure what to do. The players doing this are very weak postflop. Assuming we are at a minimum 100bb deep, if not 160-200bb or more, I want to be getting involved just not sure if flatting this type of stuff from the CO/bttn is going to be profitable. I think it is, largely because equity+skill edge+absolute/decent position.
Also, when it comes to 3betting, I do not expect to get many folds preflop, so I am planning to be very top heavy and linear, mostly just doing it for pure value. I'm thinking that since 3x doesn't generate a ton of fold equity, that maybe just sizing down could be a thing, making it say $20-> $55 or something, when in position, mainly to get it headsup. I suppose another option is to just use a larger 3b size that might generate fold equity, making it like $75 or $80 preflop. But this seems a bit unnecessary, as isolating it heads up against a weak range is a pretty good result in and of itself.
Any advice on adjusting to huge raise sizes that you see in live often?
