A4o, stab with air in 3b pot

Blinds: $0.05/$0.10 (6 Players) BN: $11.77 (Hero)
SB: $9.43
BB: $10.44
UTG: $10.10
MP: $11.75
CO: $13.34
Co was opening 44 from Co , folding 100% to 3b - 73hands
Villain from BB completely unknown
Preflop ($0.15) Hero is BN with A 4
2 folds, CO raises to $0.30, Hero raises to $0.90, SB folds, BB calls $0.80, CO folds
I use to 3b bluff in good spots with AsX vs Co, also trying to bluff more from blinds.
Flop ($2.15) Q 8 2
BB checks, Hero bets $1.20, BB raises to $3.42, Hero folds
We completely missed... I think that by checking back the flop we are giving up the hand (which won't be a tragedy I think - but I`m also trying to improve my red line, though spots like this could help).

Although we don't have any eq in the hand, checking would most likely = giving up so I try to stab because there is a good chance that he missed too... I think people do call 3bets then x/fold too much.
Final Pot BB wins $4.35
Rake is $0.20

Do you agree bluffing in such a spot every now and then?

Or should we always give up in such a spot because we don't have eq in the hand.
