89s facing donk

Blinds: $0.10/$0.25 (6 Players) BN: $78.91
SB: $29.88
BB: $39.80
UTG: $36.42 (Hero)
MP: $21.41
CO: $25.18
Preflop ($0.35) Hero is UTG with 8 9
Hero raises to $0.75, 3 folds, SB calls $0.65, BB folds
Flop ($1.75) Q 8 K
SB bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25
I'll probably never get some of the plays that some guys tend to make.
I don't understand this lead at all, and it feels like it's a value hand most of the time, but I somehow always manage to convince myself that he might do that with a draw.

I put him on 88/KQs/AJs/ATs (it's probably wider than that, since it's likely an aggro fish - I doubt a reg would lead this F without a reason).
Turn ($4.25) Q 8 K 3
SB bets $4.00, Hero calls $4.00
The turn doesn't change anything, and I have odds to call, so I do.
River ($12.25) Q 8 K 3 K
SB checks, Hero checks
I didn't see any reason to turn my hand into a bluff + it would be pretty inconsistent on my part to put a guy on a range, and then suddenly put some more hands into his range just to justify a bet.

I don't think he's doing that w/ Qx, I win vs his AT/AJ and stuff, he might XR 88/KQ, to get max value from flushes/busted JTs, so I XB.
