Beginner (6-7k hands experience) Unsure what to do vs. overbet
Hi all, my first post here. I faced the following in a live $60 buy-in deepstack turbo and was confused. Part of the problem was perhaps playing the hand to begin with but again I'm not sure and would love feedback to learn from this!
Background: I was facing a very tight-passive player, who had been folding a lot pre, limping, and folding to c-bets or three-bets after the flop. But, he had just won a massive three way pot after going all-in on Q10s and hitting the nut straight on the river. This hand was two hands after that. With the blinds going up quite quickly, and having played very tight throughout, I thought I would use my fold equity and his passiveness (especially after the big win) to steal the blinds if it folded around.
starting stacks: 30k
Blinds are: 600/1.2k
Ante: 100
Hero(SB) ± 25k stack : Q7o
Villain(BB) ± 84k stack
Folds around to SB
I raise to 3.6k, villain calls. Flop comes 862r. I bet 5.5k. Villain thinks about it, frowns a bit, and bets 25k into the pot of about 8k.
This caught me by surprise as it was the first real sign of aggression all day from him. I sort of freeze up being "caught in the act" and I figure he either has two over cards, a set or maybe a top pair he is trying to put me to the test with. I fold.
Clearly a solution would have been to not have even tried to steal the blinds at all, but in that spot should I have shoved back in case he was bluffing? Flat called and double barrelled? Still very confused as to what I should have done..Thanks for the help!
