When Did You Know It Was Time To Make The Move?
I've been playing poker, on and off now, for a few years wherein the last couple years I've taken the game a lot more seriously than I used to. I have a full-time job, which I like but don't absolutely love, but it's a nice paycheck every week. The schedule I'm on now for the most part is that I work a full 8 hour day, after work try to get a workout in, after my workout try to grind poker for a few hours online. I could grind more, but honestly I'm tired from a full day's work. Weekends are a little bit better because I don't have to go to work, I can just grind all day if I wanted to, live or online.
I guess what I'm trying to get to is, I mean, I consider myself a good player overall. Definitely have some leaks still that I have to plug, but overall I do good for the most part. I do like having a full-time real job, but at the same time, poker makes me a lot more happy than my real job. It's like I wanna make the move to full-time player, but at the same time I don't, if any of you understand that.
Besides just the money with poker, I really like how it teaches me discipline and structure. I mean, I was brought up that way with my parents regardless, and also my job teaches me discipline and work ethic as well, but poker kinda brings everything together for me in some kinda way. I mean, I'm 24, about to turn 25, I just don't wanna work a job that doesn't really grant me any kind of personal satisfaction for the rest of my life. Poker does for me. Even with the downswings, which I hate of course, but it still makes me work harder and become more responsible in a way.
I don't know. I guess I'm just venting, but there's gotta be that eye-opener that tells you that you're ready to make the move, right? I don't know if it's necessarily a big score in a tourney or what have you, but there's gotta be something I think.
Thanks for you're time guys.
