What type of poker am I going to invest my time in?
Hello anyone taking the time to read this,
I started being more "serious" about poker a few months ago. I am more of a creative person in my day job than a math type of guy (although I always loved math). Thank you everyone in the RIO community for bringing me from small stakes losing player - nah I am not ashamed ;) - to breakeven player. The journey is still quite long but I am enjoying it.
My question is : poker has evolved so much, and the mass of people is getting way more informed than before, wouldn't it be more interesting for starting players like me to focus on more obscure forms of poker like no limit 2-7 lowball than a popular form like no limit holdem or omaha? Sure the resources and scarce. But so is it for everyone else. It feels quite late for me to get in and hope ever being "ahead of the curve" in the most popular forms of poker.
I guess it's a silly question that I should answer for myself. But still I give it a shot and let's see if someone takes the time to give me his take on this :).
TL; DR : Wouldn't it be more interesting for starting players like me to focus on more obscure forms of poker like no limit 2-7 lowball than a popular form like no limit holdem or omaha?
