Cool Experience
I follow a lot of poker pro's on Twitter. Every now and then, some of them happen to host a contest of some sort to reach out to their fans in a certain way. One day I noticed on Twitter, pro, Alec Torelli held a little contest where he was giving away 5 free poker lessons to 5 different people via Skype. It was only supposed to be a short lesson because most coaches charge a high hourly rate. Long story short, I happened to be one of the five and I was actually the first one out of the 5 he came in contact with. We talked on Skype for an hour and it wasn't even supposed to be that long. We kinda just hit things off and he answered a lot of my questions that I had for him and he shared some poker stories with me, which I thought was cool. He was grinding in Macau at the time too, so the time difference from where I am in the states compared to where he is, was a big difference. Think it was like 3am there at the time when he was talking to me and it was 2pm where I am, lol. Very cool of him to take the time out of his schedule to chat with me.
Just think it was neat because, here's a guy I look up to in the poker world and we we're just talking like friends would. I wasn't nervous or intimidated at all. Poker players really are the coolest public figures because most of them don't tend to shy away from reaching out to their own fan base. Even when Phil happens to chat with me on here, it just feels so natural and he's like one of the best players in the world. Maybe it's because the top of the top are humble in a way. I'm not sure, but all and all, very cool experience.
