allelujah you're back :) I only watched the first, deep review. don't forget to talk about the last hand of you're last vids and please make concept vids and not review you're deep run, as you said in your first video make us thinking and learning. thanks.

I will not forget about that! Just had to take the opportunity when you have a World champion sitting to your right... ;-)

It takes me some time to get those concepts together and find fitting hand histories. Just give me some time and I will deliver!

Great Job Fedor and David, very much excited for this video serious, even if it will mostly consist of poorly played sets :)

I'm curious Fedor how many tables you typically play, both on sunday grinds and non sunday grind

And david, I'm curious what you were grinding before having this massive score, and if having this score has shifted your focus at all or if your prefered games + number of tables have remained the same. Congratulations on this great score, and was nice meeting both of you in St Marten.

Thanks man!

I am pretty sure there will be some more interesting hands, haha.

I mainly grind on sundays and tuesday, but I mainly play cashgames and coach right now, because of the sleeping schedule here in europe.

On sundays I play about max 20 tables between 20:00-22:00 my time, depends how good I run. Totally I'd say around 50 tourneys total, completely depending on how good I feel and so on. Im not really a massgrinder, I'm sure my edge is lategame when I'm getting short on tables.

I liked this video format quite a bit, especially for me because I'm a cash came reg and I need the detailed analysis of each pot rather than watching a bunch of preflop spots get passed over with no conversation. I do wish you two would spend a little less time talking about how good David is running, we all know he ran well to win a tournament, but we want to hear more of his thoughts on the not so obvious things that are going on :)

You both did a great job early on with the two isildur hands by maintaining an in depth conversation of every part of our range and why we are playing our hand the way we are within that range - I would love to see more of that in MTT videos across the board, even when we have somewhat trivial preflop spots like having AKs for 40bb facing a button 3bet.

+1MILLION, it's all about teaching & learning passive vs active learning as I wrote in a post about what is the best way of making MTT vids.

Fedor Holz 11 years ago

Thanks Kevin! We tried to go into depth about the spots we have very different approaches in so thats why I thought it would be interesting for a lot of different types of players.

I promise I will spend less time making fun of him, but thats a big part of our friendship!

On 99 on 889hh flop why do you say we have no option but call on flop?

I think default should be raise. You have plenty of big semi bluff draws like FD+str8, and some lower equity bluffs like QTdd.

You Sound chinesse and i find it hard to understand your german friend... But im looking forward to the next video!

Alginho,

Firstly what do you mean by "in this event"? The buyin size has nothing to  do with what play is optimal and if anything in a tough night buyin event he Ilsidur will push more marginal edges.

And if his range is a lot of mid PP and draws that doesn't imply flatting is better. Ilsidur isn't folding combo draws and isn't folding hands like TT, JJ. Not to mention vs hands like his 87s we wouldn't stack him if river didn't pair board which is a travesty. I'm confident that raising flop is both the best range play and vacuum play.

DeSalle7 11 years ago

Its a SRP 4-way pot Zach, and you have the button. It would be a travesty to raise your combodraws and always worry about the two guys behind, AND isildur.

And you have the board totally crushed and wants the other guys to peel with draws. Or you want isildur to barrel or draw to something. It's not like it is always going to come a heart on the turn or the river, the board might just "brick off" and you stack him anyway. Or you let him DDB Drawing-Dead-Barrel and take a nice decent pot.

Definitely a standard-call imo. You have way way way more hands that wants to call IP. So 99 is an excellent candidate.

Wow, amazing work/video. Really liked that format and you 2 should make some more videos together!!!!!! really constructive discussions etc. I have watched a lot of vids on this site/others for years and this is one of my favorites now. Keep it coming!

Deactivated User 11 years ago

(also a right amount of humor otherwise i would yawn some part of my viewing range :P as i do with every other video)

Thanks Fedor very enjoyable first vid. You have a very good teaching mind, breaking things down into more edible chunks of knowledge. Will looking forward to a concept vid if you get round to do one. Also thanks for the good English, not at all hard to understand what your saying at any point.

Amazing, and big thanks to playinwasted for letting you review this publically. Worth yearly membership alone.

dablancninja 11 years ago

Please carry on going through every hand, showing what he folded as I think this has a lot of value. For instance, the QTdd hand in SB @ 26:45 that quick discussion on thought process's was real good IMO.

Zachary Freeman 11 years ago

Desalle, There are certainly benefits to flatting but I  feel a raise is better especially from range perspective. I also dont see what you mean about it being a travesty raising your combo draws with players behind. I see it as opposite. If you have QThh for example, raising can fold out better FDs behind, TP and possibly overpairs; yet if we flat and get c/r we arent folding regardless. Basically any board that has many 10out+ draws are conducive to flop semibluffs and if thats the case the nuts should be in that raising range as well.

DeSalle7 10 years, 11 months ago

So you want to raise your 10out+ draws and your 98s/99/8x? That will weaken your callingrange substantially. And you don't ever wanna bluffraise with like QTo (I suppose) so if you only have massiv draws or pretty much the nuts then people will play pretty perfectly against you since you aren't folding anyway. And your only bluff is a semibluff that has tons of equity.

I feel people will make less misstakes versus that play, and I can only speak for myself but I would find it much easier for my range if you just told me right away on the flop by raising me that you have the nuts or 10+draws and if you just calls me on the flop then I know the vast majority of your range is going to be pretty weak on most turns. It seems to me you are just doing me and all the other guys in the pot a big favour.

I like the idea that you discuss hands with another good player in a coaching video, so we get 2 opinions and have a better result after all. Please make more like this.

eg23 10 years, 6 months ago

At 28:00 you mention that you can be exploited if you 3b QTs and bb jams. What hands would a reg typically 4bet jam there if u were to 3b?

bricksterpoker 9 years, 9 months ago

In the 99 hand, any consideration to just calling his river check-raise in case we run into quads? Maybe if he covered us, we would just call the check-raise?
