nl 200 hitting medium SD value in 3bet pot OOP on drawy board
BB: $200 (Hero)
CO: $214.77
BN: $200
SB: $401.07
CO: $214.77
BN: $200
SB: $401.07
Preflop
($3.00)
(4 Players)
Hero was dealt
Q
9
CO folds, BN raises to $4, SB calls $3, Hero raises to $16, BN calls $12, SB folds
CO folds, BN raises to $4, SB calls $3, Hero raises to $16, BN calls $12, SB folds
BTN is a competent reg but he fold fair a bit as BTN (given that he opens like 70% of the BTN here). Sb is a mark and hue whale that I think my Q9 play decently well given that I have a position vs him
Flop
($38.00)
9
4
J
(2 Players)
Hero checks,
BN bets $18,
Hero calls $18
This is where I always get lost. fish folds reg calls. I have like medium hand OOP in 3bet pot. I don't like any option to be honest. What is your plan here??
Turn
($74.00)
9
4
J
6
(2 Players)
Hero checks,
BN bets $40,
Hero calls $40
Here is where I think I screw it up. It is a total blank and he probaby will try to realize his equity even with hands as strong as KQ or draws. I fold nothing here and he should be aware of it.
River
($154.00)
9
4
J
6
5
(2 Players)
Hero checks,
BN bets $126,
Hero calls $126
So I call because everything missed but in reality he just wont bluff me wide enough on Turn for me to have a profitable calldown here.
Final Pot
BN has
9
9
Hero has
Q
9
BN
wins $391.88
Any thought about it. How you play in this spots 9x hands or TT??

I think defending Q9o is superior to 3-betting since villain will defend every single Qx combo that dominates us. The reverse is true of him folding all the hands we dominate (Q2-Q8, 98o, T9o, JTo)
On this flop we don't have much to worry about. 44 doesn't always set mine, we block 99, and JJ likely 4-bets pre (especially 4-handed). J9s is also blocked by our hand.
I would elect to check-call here and be mostly happy about it.
The turn is a brick and doesn't change anything. None of his draws get there. However because the board texture didn't change, villain shouldn't expect us to fold stronger hands that check-called the flop.
We cap our range by check-calling twice and an aggressive villain will be able to fire 3-barrels or start overbetting.
Is he this guy?
--> If yes then better to have just bet the flop ourselves. And as played give up now because the 3rd barrel is always coming regardless of if the board bricks.
--> If not, then we might be able to peel 1 more given his small bet sizing. We need to defend 2/3 our range here in theory and I'm sure 2P3K is very close. We can fold river if he fires again.
