after the flop, the hand gets fairly boring obv
Would like to know thoughts on:
Philborts 3bet pre.....
Sb flat pre....
PureCash25 fold pre....
Sb donk lead on flop...
appears that philbort has a starting stack and is new to the table, wants to set the tone early with a hand that plays itself, meaning he'll make a try or two to steal the pot and shutdown afterwards.
Philbort's three bet is bad as is the SB's flat. SB's donk lead is bad. 99 is usually close pre, but given what they showed down i can't imagine folding is better than calling or 4bing.
Hey Mike,
I folded pre because OP could see my cards!
-Philbort had just late regged and this was one the first hands he was dealt in. I haven't played much with him in the past, but I was assuming his rang(s) would be might tighter than they evidently are, simply out of habit and necessity from playing super high rollers constantly. Of course he doesn't have to use the same ranges/strategy in the Sunday500 as he does in 100ks. I folded because I didn't like where my hand was at vs his range, even though I understand in the moment that Bino was wide. I think Philbort's PF 3b is too wide - he can find plenty of better hands to 3b bluff with and still have a balanced range.
-Bino- I think Bino plays poker for fun and doesn't take it too seriously - it's not his source of income. His flat here isn't going to be profitable. Philbort's range is too strong, and with position, he's going to play very well vs. Bino in this spot. Bino's lead here doesn't accomplish anything. What is he representing? Well, Philbort isn't going to fold much to this lead - certainly not a pair and likely not AK types.
- My options - Had I known exactly how wide both opponents were in this spot, especially Philbort's 3b range, I'd call here. I expect this to be better than 4b/ proceeding because the range I expect Bino to have in the SB, predominately (suited) high-card hands, plays very well vs my hand. Granted I have position, but I think I'm better off taking a hand like 99 with significant implied odds and taking it to the flop vs this cast of villains and vs these ranges.
